Newport, Northern Beaches

You've either got to rope someone into being the designated driver or hop on a bus to the Northern Beaches to drink here, but it's worth it. It's a location destination, so if you make the trek out here, you many as well make a day of it. Pull up a chair in the huge outdoor area that looks out over Pittwater and don't worry about anything other than who's getting the next round.

Stepney, Adelaide

The Maid is one of Adelaide's oldest and most historic hotels, and its award-winning beer garden features Jarrah timber decking, water features, contemporary outdoor furniture, and most importantly, cold beer. Open all throughout the summer months as well as spring and autumn, the beer garden also plays host to Maid's Sunday sessions, so you're never stuck for something to do in Adelaide on a Sunday.

A previously decaying old icon, the Brisbane Hotel has been transformed into a bustling and vibrant venue with all the charms of your favourite pub. One of the most popular beer gardens in town, the Hotel is perfect for a bite to eat, an imported beer or two and a spot of people watching after work.
Newtown, Sydney

It might be a steep climb, but the view from the rooftop bar at Zanzibar is worth the effort. The courtyard setting, complete with mosaic tabletops and spiky green plants, provides a great escpae from the grungy streets below. So sit back, enjoy a few beers, and pretend you're on holiday.
The Ski Club, Darwin

The Ski Club is an outdoor beachside venue which is home to the Bali Bar. You can relax on a chair or bring your own rug and enjoy a drink or something from the bistro while watching one of Darwin's spectacular sunsets. Each Friday and Sunday night there is live music, and even your dog is welcome.
South Bank, Brisbane

Built in 1885 The Plough Inn is one of Brisbane's oldest buildings, but the recent additions of the deck and beer garden mean you can see right through to South Bank and the city. Strategically placed sails shade you from the sun - or tropical rain - and there are plenty of dining options available - the BBQ Pork Ribs are a speciality.
